Karnataka has launched a fresh IT-BT policy (2025–2030) that offers companies a grant of ₹50,000 per employee if they shift their tech workforce from Bengaluru to other cities in the state. This initiative is part of a broader effort to spread job creation outside the capital.

The new policy includes reimbursement for rent, electricity duty, telecom costs and property tax for firms establishing operations in locations like Mysuru, Mangaluru, Hubballi-Dharwad, Kalaburagi and Tumakuru. These cities are being positioned as emerging technology and innovation centres.

Beyond financial incentives, the policy covers 16 support measures, including help with R&D, reskilling, faculty development and internship reimbursements. The government is also easing labour norms and allowing 24/7 operations for eligible tech companies.

Officials say the push will not only revive local economies but also reduce congestion in Bengaluru and sharpen Karnataka’s appeal as a destination for tech investment. By offering meaningful incentives, the state hopes to foster a distributed innovation ecosystem.
