Stellantis on Tuesday pledged a USD 13 billion investment over the next four years to expand its business and manufacturing footprint in the United States, marking the largest single investment in the company’s 100-year US history.
The investment will support the launch of five new vehicles, the production of the all-new GMET4 four-cylinder engine, and the creation of over 5,000 jobs across plants in Illinois, Ohio, Michigan, and Indiana. It is expected to increase annual US vehicle production by 50 per cent.
Key plant developments include reopening the Belvidere Assembly Plant in Illinois to produce Jeep Cherokee and Compass, assembling a new midsize truck at Toledo, Ohio, developing a range-extended EV and large SUV at the Warren Truck Assembly Plant in Michigan, producing the next-generation Dodge Durango at Detroit Assembly Complex, and manufacturing the GMET4 EVO engine at Kokomo, Indiana.
“This investment in the US, the single largest in the company’s history, will drive our growth, strengthen our manufacturing footprint and bring more American jobs to the states we call home,” said Stellantis CEO and North America COO Antonio Filosa. “Accelerating growth in the US has been a top priority since my first day. Success in America is not just good for Stellantis in the US, it makes us stronger everywhere.”
Stellantis currently operates 34 manufacturing facilities, parts distribution centres, and research and development locations across 14 US states, supporting over 48,000 employees, nearly 2,600 dealers, and more than 2,300 suppliers nationwide.
