Hyundai Motor India has elevated Tarun Garg as its Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer (MD & CEO), effective 1 January 2026.
This appointment follows the resignation of the current MD & CEO, Unsoo Kim, who will step down effective December 31, 2025, as he returns to South Korea to take on a strategic role within Hyundai Motor Company.
The decision was approved by Hyundai Motor India’s Board of Directors at its meeting on 14 October 2025. In the interim period, Garg will serve as MD & CEO-designate.
Garg is currently a Whole-time Director at Hyundai Motor India. He brings over 20 years of experience in the Indian automotive sector. He holds a degree in mechanical engineering from Delhi Technological University and an MBA from IIM Lucknow. Prior to his tenure at Hyundai, he had held leadership roles at Maruti Suzuki India, including National Sales Head and Executive Director for Marketing, Logistics, Parts & Accessories.
During his time at Hyundai, Garg has helped strengthen the automaker’s market presence, shaped product strategy, pushed for innovation, introduced Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) in multiple models, improved sales quality, and expanded Hyundai’s reach into rural and used-car markets. |
