Slot machines are generally illegal in Alabama for public use. The state has very strict gambling laws that prohibit most forms of casino-style gambling, including slot machines.
However, there are exceptions for certain Native American tribal lands. The Poarch Band of Creek Indians operates casinos on sovereign tribal land in Alabama, such as Wind Creek Casino & Hotel in Atmore, Wetumpka, and Montgomery. These establishments are allowed to offer electronic bingo machines, which are similar to slot machines, under a compact with the state.
Outside of these tribal facilities, possessing or operating slot machines is against the law. Alabama law classifies slot machines as illegal gambling devices. |
