Bollywood star Rani Mukerji welcomed UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer to Mumbai’s Yash Raj Films (YRF) Studios on October 8, 2025, for a special film screening.
The meeting took place at the iconic studio owned by her husband, Aditya Chopra, as part of PM Starmer’s India visit to strengthen cultural and creative industry collaborations.
During the visit, YRF announced plans to film major productions across the UK from early 2026, marking a renewed partnership between Indian and British cinema.
Starmer was accompanied by representatives from the British Film Institute, Pinewood Studios, Elstree Studios and other top UK film organisations.
YRF CEO Akshaye Widhani expressed excitement about reigniting the studio’s historic ties with the UK, where classics like Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge were shot.
The visit also coincides with YRF Studios’ 20th anniversary celebrations on October 12, 2025. |
