The Uttar Pradesh Legislature’s budget session is scheduled to begin on 9 February 2026, with the state’s budget for 2026–27 expected to be tabled on 11 February in the Assembly, as per the official information.
Preparations for the session, which will be formally inaugurated by the Governor’s address, have been completed, with government and opposition parties set to hold preliminary meetings ahead of the proceedings.
The forthcoming state budget is projected at approximately Rs 9 lakh crore, marking a significant increase on the previous year’s allocation—Rs 8.08 lakh crore—for 2025–26.
Officials and political observers say the budget is likely to prioritise developmental spending on roads, bridges, urban infrastructure and public services, while also bolstering schemes for employment, farmers, youth, health, education and social security.
Ahead of the budget presentation, the Assembly Speaker and senior officials reviewed security and logistical arrangements to ensure the session runs smoothly, including measures to handle emergencies and maintain order within the legislature complex.
The budget session will also see discussion of key government policy initiatives and proposed legislation as departments outline their priorities and allocations for the coming financial year.
With state elections due in 2027, analysts suggest that the budget may contain announcements aimed at reinforcing the ruling party’s development agenda and addressing public expectations on economic opportunities and welfare delivery.
