Thiruvananthapuram Local Body Election Result 2025 LIVE: Kerala local body election 2025 were conducted in two stages – December 9 and December 11, and the counting of votes will begin today, December 13 at 8 am. Polls were carried out in 1,199 out of 1,200 local bodies across Kerala.
Kerala local body election voter turnout
The first phase – covering the districts of Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki and Ernakulam – recorded a 70.9 per cent voter turnout. In the second phase, which included the districts of Thrissur, Palakkad, Kozhikode, Malappuram, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod, about 75 per cent of eligible voters cast their ballots.
The total turnout of both phases stood at 73.57 per cent, slightly lower than the 75.97 per cent turnout achieved in the 2020 local body elections.

Thiruvananthapuram: Alliance-wise seat allocation
In Thiruvananthapuram, the Left Democratic Front (LDF) fielded candidates in all 101 wards. Within the alliance, CPI(M) contested 70 seats, CPI in 17, while Kerala Congress (M) and the Rashtriya Janata Dal each contested three. Janata Dal (Secular) contested two seats, and Indian National League, Congress (Secular), Kerala Congress (B), Janadhipathya Kerala Congress, NCP (Sharadchandra Pawar) and Janadhipathya Samrakshana Samithi contested one seat each.
The NDA also put forward candidates in all 101 seats. The BJP contested the lion’s share with 96 seats, followed by Bharath Dharma Jana Sena with three, while Kerala Kamaraj Congress and Shiv Sena each contested one.

The United Democratic Front (UDF) fielded candidates in all 101 wards as well. The Indian National Congress had the largest share with 88 candidates, followed by the Communist Marxist Party with five, the Indian Union Muslim League with four, and Kerala Congress and the Revolutionary Socialist Party, contesting two seats each.
In 2020, LDF won Thiruvananthapuram and S Arya Rajendran is the incumbent mayor.
