Waaree Energies has signed a power purchase agreement with the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) for a 300 MW interstate transmission system-connected wind power project in Gujarat. The agreement marks another addition to India’s expanding renewable energy pipeline as the country accelerates wind and solar capacity development to meet long-term clean energy targets.
The project is expected to supply electricity under SECI’s wind energy procurement programme and will contribute to strengthening renewable power availability across multiple states through the interstate transmission network. Gujarat continues to remain one of India’s key wind energy hubs because of its strong wind resources and large-scale renewable energy infrastructure.
Wind Energy Capacity Expansion Continues
According to the company, the project will be developed in Gujarat and connected through the interstate transmission system, enabling power distribution across regions. The agreement is part of broader efforts to expand renewable energy generation while improving grid integration and energy security.
Industry experts noted that long-term power purchase agreements remain critical for renewable energy developers as they provide revenue visibility and support project financing. The deal also reflects increasing activity in India’s wind energy sector after a period of relatively slower growth compared to solar installations.
India has been focusing on scaling both wind and solar energy capacity to achieve its renewable energy goals and reduce dependence on fossil fuels. Analysts said interstate transmission connectivity is becoming increasingly important as renewable energy generation grows in resource-rich states while electricity demand rises across industrial and urban centres.
