The arms race in South Asia primarily involves India and Pakistan, with both nations continuously enhancing their military capabilities. India has developed several indigenous defense products to strengthen its security apparatus. One notable example is the Tejas Light Combat Aircraft (LCA), a domestically produced fighter jet designed by the Aeronautical Development Agency. Another significant product is the Akash missile system, a medium-range surface-to-air defense system developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO). Additionally, India has advanced in naval technology with the Arihant-class submarines, which are nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarines built indigenously. These developments reflect India\“s efforts to achieve self-reliance in defense manufacturing amid regional security challenges. |
