Royal Enfield will invest Rs 2,200 crore to build a new motorcycle manufacturing facility in Andhra Pradesh, marking the storied brand’s first major expansion outside Tamil Nadu since its founding in 1901, the company and state officials said.
The plant will be developed in two phases at Satyavedu mandal in Tirupati district, close to the Andhra Pradesh-Tamil Nadu border, adding nearly 9,00,000 units to the company’s annual manufacturing capacity. The project is aimed at bolstering India’s role as an international motorcycle production hub.
The Andhra Pradesh State Investment Promotion Board cleared the proposal at a meeting chaired by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu earlier this week.
The state has earmarked 267 acre in Vanelluru and Rallakuppam villages for the facility, which is expected to create around 5,000 direct and indirect jobs. The first phase will include a dedicated vendor park designed to relocate key suppliers to Andhra Pradesh and seed what officials described as a world-class automotive manufacturing cluster.
Construction of the first phase is targeted for completion by 2029, with the second phase due by 2032.
“Royal Enfield is far more than a motorcycle brand — it is a timeless symbol of heritage, craftsmanship and enduring quality,” said Nara Lokesh, Minister for Education, IT & Electronics, and Human Resources Development. He said the investment underscored the state’s speed of doing business and infrastructure readiness, and would catalyse ancillary industries around the plant.
The project is expected to lift industrial development in southern Andhra Pradesh, reinforcing the state’s pitch as a destination for large manufacturing investments across mobility, electronics and renewable energy, officials said.
