The JDS had earlier accused Karnataka deputy CM DK Shivakumar of orchestrating the closure of the popular reality show Bigg Boss Kannada.
The show was halted after Jollywood Studios was sealed and its electricity and water were cut. After the shutdown, an old remark made by Shivakumar resurfaced on social media.
JDS shared the video and said that Shivakumar was taking revenge against the film industry and labelled him a “nut-bold minister”.

The minister had earlier issued warnings to the film industry, saying that he knew “who should tighten the nut and bolt where”. The statements were made in criticism of actors who did not participate in the “ Namma Neeru, Namma Hakku” campaign. The comments created a political firestorm online as the video resurfaced.

On Wednesday, D K Shivakumar responded to the criticism, saying, “If JDS leaders do not talk about me, they can't gain strength, sleep, or peace.” “ I was the one who inaugurated Jollywood Studios. The government has made the decision. I have instructed the officials and spoken to the chairman of the Pollution Control Board. If private parties have made mistakes, they should correct them. Entertainment shows like Big Boss should continue, but errors must be fixed," he said.
He also said that he instructed the District Collector to grant permissions to continue the show.
Bigg Boss Kannada, hosted by Kiccha Sudeep, was shut down just two weeks after the premiere of its new season. The Karnataka State Pollution Control Board KSPCB gave a closure order to Vels Studios and Entertainment Private Limited (Jollywood Studios) near Bidadi for environmental reasons.
The KSPCB said that the studio operated without a ‘consent for establishment’ and ‘consent for operation’.
All 17 contestants in the reality show were moved to Eagleton resort.
On Wednesday, the channel said in a statement, "Due to unforeseen reasons, there was a disruption in the airing time of today's episode of 'Bigg Boss' on Jio Hotstar. We apologise for the inconvenience. Today's episode is now available for viewing on JioHotstar."
The makers of the show are preparing to move the Karnataka High Court against the district administration's order and seek a stay.
If relief is granted, filming could resume within a few days at the same location. Otherwise, the makers are considering rebuilding the set at another site, which could delay the production. |
