When asked if actor-politician and TVK chief Vijay will be arrested, the minister said the M.K. Stalin-led government will not arrest anyone unnecessarily.
"If there is evidence, the government will do its duty," the minister said.

The minister reiterated the the government cannot be held responsible for the tragedy, saying the authorities did everything right and alleged that those trying to point fingers at the government are playing politics.
“How can we be responsible? We provided police protection, granted permission, set conditions and gave advice. So those who accuse us are simply politicians playing to the gallery,” the minister said.
"Generally, each party knows how many people will attend the meetings it organises. Parties should choose venues appropriate to their expected crowd,” the minister observed.
When the minister was asked if changes are needed in the way political parties hold rallies, he said the government is setting up a committee to decide what needs to be done in this regard.
Ambulance drivers questioned

Meanwhile, the police said ambulance drivers who were on duty during Vijay's election rally were interrogated on Saturday.
Five to six drivers, of both government and private ambulances, who were present at the time of the incident in Velusamypuram in Karur, appeared before investigators, a Karur Town Police official said.
Police reportedly sought details such as who summoned the drivers, how many calls were received by government and private hospitals, and how many ambulances were pressed into service on September 27.
