A western disturbance has brought snowfall and a wet spell to Shimla, with decreasing temperatures on Sunday.
The IMD has issued a yellow alert for several parts of Himachal Pradesh.
According to the weather report by the IMD, the western disturbance created a cyclonic circulation over the north Pakistan and Rajasthan, influencing the weather in the state.
Rain, snowfall and thunderstorms are to be expected in several districts, including Kinnaur, Lahaul-Spiti, Mandi, Chamba, Kullu, Shimla, Solan, and Sirmaur on Sunday.
A thunderstorm alert has been issued for the plain districts of Una, Bilaspur, Hamirpur, and Kangra, accompanied by rain. Kullu, lahaul-Spiti and Pangi have been issued an Avalanche warning.
In the Chamba district, power cuts continued in about 115 villages after continuous snowfall.

A fresh disturbance can also be expected on Monday, followed by another on February 5.

Winds in Shimla may reach speeds of 40-60 kmph, which may result in power outages and more road closures. Rains can also increase post noon.
A cooling trend is to be expected in the first week of February. Temperature could fall to 2-5 degrees Celsius, and daytime temperatures may drop to 4-5 degrees Celsius.
Residents, tourists and farmers are advised to stay updated with local weather alerts, avoid unnecessary travel and ensure livestock and crops are protected. Travellers are also advised to exercise caution on roads prone to ice and snow.
