A 32-year-old woman working as an HRmanager with a private firm in Agrawas brutally murdered, beheaded and dumped near a bridge in a body bag with her legs severed on Friday, the police said.
The crime was allegedly committed by her office colleague and romantic partner, who has now been arrested. The victim was later identified as Minky Sharma, a resident of Tedhi Bagiya in Agra.
Minky worked as an HR manager at a private company in Sanjay Place, where the accused was employed as a computer operator. The accused, identified as Vinay Singh (30) was arrested by the local police yesterday.
Police said that parts of the woman’s body (missing her face) were found inside a gunny bag on Jawahar Bridge during the early hours of January 24. “Efforts to trace and recover the victim’s severed head are presently underway,” Agra police added in its statement.
Minky had left home around 2 pm on January 23, telling her family that she was going to the office. When she failed to return by evening, and her phone was found switched off, her family began searching for her and later approached the Trans Yamuna police station, where a missing persons complaint was registered.

Meanwhile, around 1 am on January 24, locals noticed a gunny bag lying on Jawahar Bridge and alerted police. On opening it, officers found the naked, headless body of a woman, following which efforts were launched to establish her identity.
What led to Minky’s murder?
As per the investigation conducted by Agra police, Minky and Vinay had been in a relationship for over two years, but Vinay allegedly grew suspicious after learning that Minky had been in touch with another man for the past six months. “Frequent arguments followed, eventually culminating in the murder.
DCP Abbas said Vinay wanted to marry Minky, but she had refused. After detailed interrogation, he admitted to killing her. Police have sent him to judicial custody and said they will take the strictest legal action against him.

How was Minky’s body found?
DCP (City) Sayed Ali Abbas constituted five police teams to crack the case. Police said CCTV footage showed a man dragging a gunny bag out of an office building and later riding a scooter towards Jawahar Bridge. Cameras installed on MG Road and the highway also captured the suspect travelling on the victim’s scooter.
Using the missing complaint, office records, and CCTV footage from areas including Maruti Plaza, police identified the suspect as Vinay Singh, who had been working with Minky for the past two years. During interrogation, Vinay confessed to the crime and revealed the details surrounding Minky’s murder.
According to police, Vinay had called Minky to the office on January 23. After an argument, he attacked her repeatedly with a knife, delivering a fatal blow to her neck. He then dismembered the body, packed it in a plastic bag, sealed it with parcel tape, and placed the severed head in a backpack.
He transported the body on Minky’s scooter to Jawahar Bridge, intending to dump it into the Yamuna. However, when he failed to lift the bag and noticed passersby, he abandoned it near the bridge and fled.
“When he failed to lift the bag and noticed passersby, he abandoned it near the bridge and fled. He later disposed of the severed head, the victim’s clothes, mobile phone and bag near a drain, and left the scooter at a secluded place,” the officer added.
An FIR has been registered at the Trans Yamuna police station under Sections 103(1) (murder) and 238 (destruction of evidence) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, along with relevant provisions of the Arms Act.
Police have recovered the scooter, the knife used in the crime, and the victim’s clothes. Vinay Singh has been sent to judicial custody, and further investigation is underway. |
