The poll authority made the announcement during a press conference that started at 4 pm.

The term of the 243-member Bihar state assembly ends on November 22.
14 lakh of the 7.43 crore eligible voters of the state will be exercising franchise for the first time, Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar said. There will be over 90,000 polling booths, he added.
Earlier on Sunday, a team of the Election Commission, led by Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, on Sunday concluded its two-day tour of the state, where he received feedback from representatives of political parties and discussed poll preparedness with officials.

Political parties have urged the EC to hold the polls immediately after the Chhath festival, which will be celebrated at the end of October, to ensure greater voter participation as a large number of people employed outside return home for festivities.
The 2020 assembly polls in the state were held in three phases under the shadow of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The government is currently held by the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), which includes the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) as the single largest party in the alliance, chief minister Nitish Kumar's Janata Dal (United) (JD(U)), the Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular) (HAM(S)) and two Independents. In the 2020 polls, the party had won 75 seats out of 110 that it had contested, and its strength rose over the years on account of defections from other parties as also victories in bypolls.
The opposition Mahagathbandhan (MGB), is led by the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD). The Indian National Congress (INC) and the Left parties, including the Communist Party of India (Marxist–Leninist) Liberation (CPI(ML)L), CPI(M), and CPI, are the other constituents.
