A video of mob violence has surfaced from Bihar's Araria where a school principal was manhandled in the presence of policemen after being accused of sexually molesting underage students. Locals and parents gathered at the government school in large numbers and pelted the accused principal with slaps as he was being led out of the school premises, a viral video showed.
The incident was reported in Araria on Monday when several girls from Classes six and seven told their parents that the principal used to put his hand inside their clothes. They reportedly alleged that the man identified as Shamsul Hoda Masoom (45) offered them school stationery items, biscuits, and chocolates before touching them inappropriately.
When the girls found out that several of them across classes found the principal's behaviour inappropriate, they decided to approach their teachers and parents. As the news went out, there was a ruckus at the school premises and policemen arrived from the local police station to arrest the accused. Angry locals assaulted the principal despite earnest attempts by the cops to stop them. The policemen were greatly outnumbered, and all the principal could do was plead and use his hands to protect his head as blows landed from all four sides, the viral video said.

Shamsul Hoda Masoom had joined the school in March, and girls started noticing that the new principal often placed his hand on the shoulders of girl students while inspecting classes, Bhaskar English said in a report. They asked the minor girls about marriage and encouraged them to wear jeans and a top.
When he got a chance, he often asked girls to meet him in his office and touched their clothes and body inappropriately after offering them pens, biscuits, or chocolates, the Bhaskar English report said, quoting students.
The principal, who is currently under police custody, has denied the allegations and has maintained that he had no bad intention while offering the students chocolates and biscuits. |
