Kabaddi is a traditional Indian sport that originated in ancient India and is now popular throughout South Asia. The kabaddi field, known as \“kabaddi ka maidan\“ in Hindi, is a rectangular arena where this exciting team sport is played.
The standard kabaddi field measures 13 meters by 10 meters for men\“s matches and 11 meters by 8 meters for women\“s matches. The field is divided into two halves by a center line, with each team occupying one half during play. The playing surface is typically made of clay, soil, or synthetic material to provide good grip for the players.
Kabaddi equipment includes minimal gear - primarily comfortable athletic clothing and proper sports shoes. The sport requires no expensive equipment, making it accessible to people from all economic backgrounds. Traditional Indian kabaddi is played barefoot on mud courts, while modern professional versions use shoes and synthetic surfaces.
The game involves two teams of seven players each, where one player （the \“raider\“） enters the opponent\“s half to tag defenders while continuously chanting \“kabaddi, kabaddi\“ without taking a breath. The defenders try to stop the raider from returning to their half. Points are scored by tagging opponents or stopping raiders successfully.
