For those who don't know, "Hoo Hey How" (Fish-Prawn-Crab) is a traditional dice game hugely popular in Asia, especially during Chinese New Year. The backstory in the game about the casino owner Huo Yuan finding inspiration by the sea is a really nice touch that sets the mood. The slot version keeps the familiar symbols (Fish, Prawn, Crab, Rooster, Gourd, and Stag) but adds a modern slot twist with a fantastic bonus round. First, the Layout:
The game uses a 6-reel setup with a varying number of rows, which makes the grid look dynamic: Reels 1 & 6: 4 rows high Reels 2, 3, 4, & 5: 5 rows high
This creates a sort of "stretched" center, giving you more ways to win on the middle reels.
The Main Attraction: Free Spins with a "Lives" System This is where the game truly shines. The Free Spins feature has a clever mechanic that reminds me of a video game, and it's all about consecutive wins. Triggering: You need to collect 3, 4, or 5 Free Spin (Scatter) symbols to trigger the feature, awarding you 3, 4, or 5 lives respectively. Think of these lives as your chances to keep the bonus round going. How it Works: The free spins round starts with your initial number of lives. The key is the increasing multiplier, which goes up with each consecutive win. But here's the brilliant part: if you have a non-winning spin, you lose one life. The round continues until you run out of lives. The Reset Chance: The real potential for a huge win comes from the chance to reset your lives back to the starting number during the feature! This can extend the bonus round dramatically, allowing the multiplier to climb to seriously high levels.
This "lives" system creates incredible tension. Every spin matters, and getting a reset feels amazing. It perfectly captures the "do-or-die" excitement of the original dice game. Verdict: Volatility: I'd place this in the High volatility category. The base game is solid, but the big wins are clearly reserved for the free spins round where you can chain consecutive wins with a rising multiplier. Potential: The potential is massive if you can get a good chain of wins and reset your lives. The multiplier can get really high. Theme & Sound: PG SOFT nailed the aesthetic. The graphics are vibrant and clean, with symbols that are instantly recognizable to fans of the classic game. The soundtrack is upbeat and festive, fitting the casino/Chinese New Year theme perfectly.
 Final Thoughts:
If you enjoy games with engaging bonus rounds where your decisions (or luck!) feel impactful, you need to try this. It's more than just a simple adaptation; it's a clever and exciting slot that stands on its own. It's a great tribute to a classic game that successfully brings it to a new audience. Has anyone else given it a spin? What's the highest multiplier you've managed to achieve? Did you get a life reset? Good luck, and may your spins be consecutive! ?
