Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, on Friday directed officials to ensure the timely implementation of the ‘Self-Reliance in Pulses Mission’ and the ‘Pradhan Mantri Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana’.
Chouhan held a high-level meeting with senior officials of the Ministry of Agriculture and issued instructions for the expeditious execution of both initiatives. He also announced plans to convene a meeting with ministers from 11 ministries to accelerate the implementation of the Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana at the grassroots level.
The ‘Self-reliance in Pulses Mission’ will be rolled out through district-level clusters, with states being requested to facilitate their formation. Officials have been asked to coordinate with nodal officers of concerned States to ensure timely and effective implementation.
Launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 11 October 2025, at Pusa, New Delhi, the Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana aims to promote agricultural development in 100 aspirational districts by integrating 36 sub-schemes of 11 ministries. The scheme will be implemented for six years from FY 2025–26 with an annual outlay of Rs 24,000 crore.
The mission will also span six years with a financial outlay of Rs 11,440 crore. The mission seeks to expand pulses cultivation from 275 lakh hectares to 310 lakh hectares, increase production from 242 lakh tonne to 350 lakh tonne and raise productivity to 1,130 kg per hectare by 2030–31, while also generating significant employment opportunities.
