Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday launched and laid the foundation stone for infrastructure and industrial projects worth nearly Rs 9,400 crore in the southern state of Telangana.
The programme, held in Hyderabad, was attended by Telangana Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and Union Minister G Kishan Reddy, among other senior officials.
Key announcements included the four-laning of National Highway-167 between Gudebellur and Mahabubnagar, part of the Hyderabad-Panaji Economic Corridor, and the development of the Zaheerabad Industrial Area in Sangareddy district, aimed at attracting manufacturing investment.
Modi also flagged off a clutch of rail and logistics projects, including sections of the Kazipet-Vijayawada multi-tracking rail corridor, the Kazipet rail underpass and a new greenfield petroleum, oil and lubricants terminal in Hyderabad, officials said.
The centrepiece of the event was the inauguration of the PM MITRA Park in Warangal, also known as the Kakatiya Mega Textile Park. Built at an estimated cost of Rs 1,700 crore, it is India’s first fully operational PM MITRA facility and is designed as an integrated textile hub aligned with the federal government’s “5F” framework, farm, fibre, factory, fashion and foreign markets.
Addressing the gathering, Modi said the textile industry, once a cornerstone of India’s economy, was being repositioned for renewed growth. He said the Warangal park would help revive the sector by clustering manufacturing units and linking them to central government schemes that support production and exports.
The projects form part of the federal government’s broader strategy to boost industrial output, improve logistics and generate jobs, particularly in manufacturing-intensive states such as Telangana. |
