Ajit Pawar plane crash news: Ajit Pawar, the former Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra, passed away in a plane crash earlier today, on January 28. His chartered plane bound for Baramati nosedived while attempting to make a safe landing leading to explosion, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) said in a statement
Pawar was en route to his home ‍region ⁠to canvass in local body elections, according to local media.
Two of his staff and two crew were also aboard the VSR Ventures-operated Learjet 45 aircraft, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation said. “No person on board has survived,” it added in ‌an initial statement.

‘There were 4-5 explosions’ – Eyewitness recalls horror

Speaking to ANI, an eyewitness recounted the crash landing in Baramatiarea of the district. “When the aircraft descended, it seemed it would crash, and it did crash. It then exploded. There was a massive explosion,” the eyewitness said, adding that there were subsequent explosions, which left the passengers unable for rescue.

Details of Ajit Pawar’s plane crash – What did airport manager say?

Ajit Pawar was flying in a Learjet 45, and the operator was noted as VSR. The six passengers were onboard the VT-SSK, as per DGCA data. Baramati airport manager, Shivaji Taware, told Hindustan Times that the aircraft had attempted a landing, but “the aircraft went off the side of the runway and crashed.”
