The Aranmula Boat Race is a traditional snake boat race held annually in the Pampa River at Aranmula, Kerala, India. This ancient water sport is part of the Onam festival celebrations and features magnificent 100-foot-long snake boats called Palliyodams.
Each boat is meticulously crafted from local wood by skilled artisans using traditional techniques passed down through generations. The boats are considered sacred and are owned by temples in the region.
