Kabaddi is a traditional Indian sport that originated in ancient times and remains popular in Maharashtra and other regions. This contact team sport requires strength, strategy, and breath control, where players raid the opponent\“s court while chanting \“kabaddi\“ without taking a breath.
The game is played between two teams of seven players each on a rectangular court. The raider\“s objective is to touch opponents and return to their half while holding their breath. Defenders try to stop the raider by tackling or catching them. Points are scored when a raider successfully touches opponents or when defenders stop a raider.
Kabaddi has gained international recognition with professional leagues like Pro Kabaddi League attracting global audiences. It promotes physical fitness, teamwork, and quick decision-making skills among players. |
