Anmol Bishnoi, wanted for the murder of NCP leader Baba Siddique, was arrested on arrival in Delhi after being deported from the US and is being taken to Patiala court on Wednesday.
Bishnoi is the younger sibling of notorious gangster Lawrence Bishnoi.
Anmol was removed from the US on Tuesday after being detained in the country in November last year. The move marked a breakthrough for several Indian investigative agencies, which were pursuing him in multiple cases.
Anmol has been absconding in the US since 2022 and operating from the country. He is the 19th accused linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang to be caught.
He is facing at least 18 criminal cases in India. He was wanted for several cases, including killing Siddique, firing at Bollywood star Salman Khan's residence, and the killing of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala.
Bishnoi fled India in 2021 on a forged passport and has been on the run since. He had first gone to Nepal before moving through Dubai and Kenya to reach the US.
Bishnoi was last seen at an event in Bakersfield, California, in April 2023.
He worked with other members of the gang to continue running the syndicate and execute terrorist activities from the US. He had also given shelter and logistic support to the the gang’s shooters and ground operatives. |
