Beach Kabaddi is a popular variation of traditional Kabaddi played on sandy beaches across India. This exciting sport combines physical strength, agility, and strategic thinking in a unique coastal setting.
The basic rules of Beach Kabaddi follow similar principles to the traditional version but with some adaptations for the sandy surface. Each team consists of 6 players instead of the usual 7, and the playing area is smaller, typically 10x12.5 meters. The match consists of two halves of 10 minutes each with a 5-minute break.
Players must demonstrate raiding skills by entering the opponent\“s court while continuously chanting \“kabaddi, kabaddi\“ without taking a breath. The defensive team aims to stop the raider by tackling or catching them. Points are scored when a raider touches opponents and returns safely, or when defenders successfully stop a raider.
The sandy surface adds an extra challenge, requiring players to develop specialized footwork and balance techniques. Beach Kabaddi has gained significant popularity in coastal regions of India, particularly during beach festivals and tournaments. |
