Slot machines in North Carolina are primarily found in the two tribal casinos operated by the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians. These casinos, Harrah\“s Cherokee Casino Resort and Harrah\“s Cherokee Valley River, offer a wide variety of electronic gaming machines that are legally classified as Class III gaming. 
The legality of slot machines in NC is strictly limited to these tribal lands under the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act. Outside of these casinos, possession of slot machines for commercial use is generally prohibited by state law.
