Telangana's life sciences sector is expected to generate more than five lakh jobs over the next few years, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy said on Tuesday, asserting that the State's dedicated policy framework would help position it among the world's leading life sciences clusters.
Addressing the Telangana Formation Day parade in Hyderabad, Reddy said Telangana has also emerged as a key destination for Global Capability Centres (GCCs), with Hyderabad accounting for over 20 per cent of the country's GCC base.
He said nearly half of all GCCs established in the banking, financial services and insurance (BFSI) sector in India last year were located in Hyderabad, underlining the city's growing importance as a technology and business services hub.
The Chief Minister said Telangana attracted investment proposals worth Rs 5.75 lakh crore during the Telangana Global Summit held in December 2025. He added that the State has prepared a comprehensive development master plan covering all regions, making it the only State in the country with such a framework.
Under its long-term growth strategy, the government has classified Telangana into three development zones - Core Urban Region Economy (CURE), Peri-Urban Region Economy (PURE) and Rural Area Ring Economy (RARE) - to drive region-specific development.
Reddy said the Telangana Rising-2047 initiative aims to transform the State into a USD 3 trillion economy by 2047. As part of the plan, the CURE region, located within Hyderabad's Outer Ring Road, will be developed as a global services and innovation hub.
Separately, the Chief Minister said the State government would soon introduce a cashless health insurance scheme for government employees through the Employees Healthcare Trust. The government recently rolled out a life insurance scheme offering a cover of Rs 1 crore for employees.
He also said the State was releasing around Rs 1,000 crore every month towards clearing pending dues of employees and pensioners.
On land protection measures, Reddy said the government had reclaimed 1,045 acres of encroached land around water bodies and other government-owned properties, with the recovered assets estimated to be worth nearly Rs 60,000 crore.
