Trident reported a 23.5 per cent year-on-year decline in net profit for the fourth quarter, as weaker revenue weighed on earnings despite an improvement in operating margins.
The company posted a net profit of Rs 102 crore for the quarter ended 31 March 2026, compared with Rs 133.2 crore in the corresponding period last year.
Revenue from operations declined 12.4 per cent year-on-year to Rs 1,632.5 crore from Rs 1,864.3 crore a year earlier.
EBITDA fell 7.2 per cent to Rs 227.3 crore from Rs 245 crore in the year-ago quarter. However, EBITDA margin improved to 13.9 per cent from 13.1 per cent, reflecting better operational efficiency despite lower sales.
The board approved a first interim dividend of Rs 0.50 per fully paid-up equity share with a face value of Rs 1 each for the financial year 2026-27.
The company has fixed 23 May 2026 as the record date for determining shareholders eligible for the dividend. Trident said the payout will be credited within the prescribed statutory timelines.
In addition, the board approved a proposal to raise up to Rs 500 crore through the issuance of non-convertible debentures (NCDs) via public issue or private placement in one or more tranches, subject to shareholder approval.
The company also approved the reappointment of Deepak Nanda as Managing Director for a further three-year term from 5 September 2026 to 4 September 2029, subject to shareholder approval.
Separately, Trident said the implementation of India’s new labour codes resulted in amendments to employee benefit plans, leading to an expense of Rs 4.49 crore during the quarter and the full financial year ended 31 March 2026.
The company said the amount was recognised as a past service cost in its profit and loss account in accordance with Ind AS 19 relating to employee benefits.
Shares of Trident ended Tuesday’s session marginally lower, slipping 0.04 per cent to Rs 24.33 on the NSE. |
