State-owned NHPC reported a 68 per cent rise in consolidated net profit for the March quarter of FY26, aided by higher income and increased power generation capacity during the fiscal year.
The company posted a consolidated net profit of Rs 1,549.42 crore in the January-March quarter of 2025-26 compared with Rs 919.63 crore in the corresponding period a year earlier, according to an exchange filing on Friday.
Its total income for the quarter rose to Rs 3,120.52 crore from Rs 2,557.71 crore in the year-ago period.
For the full financial year FY26, NHPC’s consolidated net profit increased to Rs 4,220.46 crore from Rs 3,411.73 crore in FY25. Total income during the year climbed to Rs 12,686.09 crore against Rs 11,614.61 crore earlier.
The board of the company also cleared a final dividend of 21 paise per equity share for FY26.
Record Capacity Addition
In a separate statement, NHPC said it recorded the highest annual capacity addition in its history during FY26 by commissioning three projects with a combined capacity of 1,850 MW.
The projects included 750 MW of the 2,000 MW Subansiri Lower Hydro Electric Project, the 800 MW Parbati-II Hydro Electric Project and the 300 MW Karnisar Solar Power Project.
NHPC said its standalone power stations generated 23,307 million units of electricity during FY26 from an installed capacity of 7,401 MW spread across 25 power stations.
Including subsidiaries and joint ventures, the company currently has an operational capacity of 9,333 MW from 31 power stations.
The company is also constructing 17 projects with a combined capacity of 9,204 MW. Besides this, nine projects with a total capacity of 10,263 MW are under clearance stage, while another nine projects aggregating 9,830 MW are under survey and investigation stage. |
