Sterlite Technologies said on Wednesday it plans to invest up to USD 100 million in the United States to expand its manufacturing capacity, aiming to support growing demand from AI data centres and telecom customers.
The Indian connectivity solutions maker announced the plan at the SelectUSA Investment Summit, a federal initiative designed to attract foreign investment into the United States. The investment is expected to create between 400 and 500 jobs, the company said in a statement.
Sterlite Technologies said the funds would be used to offer advanced connectivity products in the US, including terminated optical fibre cables, strengthening its ability to serve hyperscale data centres and telecom operators building AI-ready infrastructure. The company added that it has already signed agreements with major US customers to supply high-speed optical connectivity for data centre and network deployments.
STL said its US manufacturing push would support demand for high-density optical solutions needed to connect large data centre campuses and meet the surge in GPU-driven computing. The company recently expanded its US portfolio with Neuralis, its AI-focused data centre offering, and proprietary high-capacity cables such as its Celesta range.
“By owning the entire value chain—from glass to the data centre portfolio—we are excited to enable our customers to build the physical foundation for the AI era,” said Rahul Puri, CEO of STL. He added that the investment would help ensure scalable and reliable infrastructure to support the rapid build-out of AI-driven networks in the United States.
