With the announcement of dates for the Bihar Assembly Elections, seat aspirants are beginning to make themselves seen and heard in the state. While folk singer Maithili Thakur’s name is already doing the rounds, actress Akshara Singh could also be a BJP contestant in the upcoming elections.
Akshara met Giriraj Singh, the BJP MP from Begusarai, on Tuesday. “Today I had a courtesy meeting with Honorable Giriraj Singh ji and received his blessings," she posted.
Her cryptic message has triggered rumour mills, which suspect she is about to get a party ticket for the Assembly elections. The BJP, too, is yet to confirm whether this meeting was a casual one or if it has any political significance.
Another reason why her meeting with the BJP MP set tongues wagging was that she had earlier endorsed Jan Suraj leader Prashant Kishor. In 2023, Akshara appeared with her father on Kishor's Jan Suraj platform, where she praised him. At that time, speculations were that she was attempting to make her political debut with the Jan Suraj Party.
However, Akshara later told reporters that she was not associated with any particular party and was only drawn to their ideology.

Besides Akshara, the names of Khesarilal Yadav and Neetu Chandra are doing the rounds.
However, the most prominent among the lot is Pawan Singh, who has returned to the BJP. The chatter is that Pawan Singh could be the BJP candidate from Arrah. He rejoined the party recently after his earlier stint, which spanned just 1.5 years, ended. The BJP was apparently not happy with his “vulgar” songs and music videos. However, his comeback garnered enough attention as Pawan Singh was seen with Rashtriya Lok Samta Party leader Upendra Kushwaha and Amit Shah.

Interestingly, Pawan Singh’s embrace of Kushwaha hinted that the animosity between the duo has vanished. After being dropped by the BJP, Pawan Singh contested as an Independent from the Karakat Lok Sabha seat in 2024 against Kushwaha. He won more votes than Kushwaha, though the seat was clinched by CPI (M-L) Liberation’s Raja Ram Singh. |
