Even as an investigation is underway into the mysterious death of singer-composer Zubeen Garg, his wife Garima Saikia Garg took to social media on Tuesday, demanding justice for her late husband.
'We will be together again, very soon Goldie (the name by which Zubeen was called by the family). But now, very soon, I/we all want to know the reason why you went away physically from us...Why? This is a big question. This question is burning my empty heart day and night. I want an answer,” Garima said in a Facebook post.
Garg’s sister Palme Borthakur, too, took to Facebook, demanding justice for her brother.
“You will again call me 'Momon' (her pet name)....when we meet on the other side...now we have only one goal...to ensure justice for you,” she said.
Borthakur also urged people to provide mental support and help them get justice for Garg.
The Garg family’s social media posts came a day after Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said barring one, seven others present with singer Zubeen Garg during his last moments in Singapore were yet to respond to CID summons.
Sarma had earlier hinted at the non-cooperation from certain individuals, as he said the Assam police cannot travel to Singapore to take their statements.
“We will maintain pressure on them... the sooner they come, the sooner we can finish the investigation. We will motivate them to cooperate with us,” the chief minister said on Monday.
Garg died under mysterious circumstances in Singapore while swimming in the sea on September 19. The singer had gone to the Southeast Asian nation to attend the 4th edition of the NorthEast India Festival, organised by Shyamkanu Mahanta and his company.
Four persons, including Mahanta, Zubeen's manager Siddhartha Sharma, musician Shekharjyoti Goswami and Singer Amritprava Mahanta have been arrested and are currently in police custody. |
