Telangana Chief MinisterA Revanth Reddyis set to create history by attending a leadership programme at Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government. He will become the first Chief Minister in independent India to enrol in a programme at an Ivy League institution while in office.
According to an official release, Revanth Reddy will take part in the programme titled “Leadership: 21st Century” from January 25 to January 31. During this period, he will stay on the Kennedy School campus in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and study alongside participants from more than 20 countries across five continents.

According to the press release, unlike a ceremonial visit, the programme will require the Chief Minister to fully participate as a student. He will attend regular classes, complete assignments, submit homework, and work on group projects with other global participants.

The programme is chaired by Professor Tim O’Brien and directed by Professor Karen Morrissey. Its curriculum is based on studying real-world case studies, taken from different countries and periods in history. Participants are expected to analyse problems, discuss solutions in groups, and present their ideas in the classroom.
At the end of the programme, Revanth Reddy will receive a course completion certificate from Harvard University. This will mark another first for a sitting Chief Minister from India.
Harvard University, the private Ivy League research university based in Cambridge, Massachusetts, has 14 schools, including the Harvard Business School, Law School, Medical School, Kennedy School of Government and the Divinity School, and is widely regarded as one of the world’s leading centres for education and research.
Focus on global skills for Telangana students
Ahead of his Harvard visit, the Chief Minister spoke about the importance of preparing Telangana’s youth for global opportunities. During an interaction with nursing students at a college in Khammam on Saturday, Revanth Reddy spoke about the growing demand for Indian nurses abroad.

He added that countries such as Japan, South Korea and Germany are actively seeking skilled nurses and said foreign language skills are becoming essential to compete in a globalised job market.
According to the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), Revanth Reddy announced that the Telangana government will develop special teaching facilities for Japanese, German and Korean languages. “There is a high demand for nurses in countries such as Japan, South Korea, and Germany,” Reddy said. “We will provide dedicated teaching facilities in Japanese, German and Korean to help nursing students access global job opportunities.” The Chief Minister also said that on his recent trips abroad, he heard many people praise the good work of Indian nurses, especially those from Telangana.
Speaking of the state government’s focus on healthcare and education, Revanth Reddy said doctors are “next to God” and expressed confidence that nurses from Telangana would continue to raise the state’s reputation globally. |
