A 26-year-old employee withBioconallegedly jumped to his death from the fifth floor of the biopharmaceutical company building on Hosur Road in Electronics City Phase II inBengaluruon Tuesday.
What do we know about the deceased?

The deceased was identified as Anant Kumar, a resident of Banashankari, south Bengaluru. His father, Srinath, is a temple priest.


An engineering graduate, Anant worked in the company’s finance department for the last six months, police said. Following the fall, Anantha was taken to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment. Doctors, however, declared him dead on arrival, Live Mint reported.

What did investigators say about the incident

Investigators revealed that the company’s canteen is located on the fifth floor of the building. On the day of the incident, Anantha was reportedly seen speaking on his mobile phone near the canteen.

He later went towards the terrace area, from where he is believed to have jumped. No suicide note was found at the site, police said.

Biocon issues statement

Condoling Kumar’s death, Biocon in a statement said, “We are deeply saddened by the passing of one of our employees in Bengaluru. Our thoughts and heartfelt condolences are with the family during this extremely difficult time. As the matter is currently under investigation by the authorities, we are unable to share further details at this stage.”
Biocon’s Executive Chairperson Kiran Mazumdar Shaw also reacted to Kumar’s death, expressing her shock at his demise.
“I’m shocked to hear of this tragedy. My deepest condolences to his family. Om Shanthi,” she wrote on X.


Techie killed in Bengaluru PG

The incident comes days after a techie staying in Bengaluru paying guest accommodation was killed in a gas explosion. The 23-year-old man was working as a senior analyst with Capgemini was killed in a gas explosion at a shared accommodation in Bengaluru’s Kundalahalli on Monday.
Three others were injured and identified as Venkatesh (28) from Kurnool, Vishal Verma (23) from Uttarakhand, and CV Goel (25), a woman from Uttarakhand.
