A CBI lawyer was killed on Saturday after a speeding vehicle rammed into his car on the Jammu–Srinagar National Highway. The incident took place in Ramban district — with videos of the purported accident going viral on social media. Sheikh Adil Nabi had recently cleared the UPSC examination to become a prosecuting officer with the Central Bureau of Investigation.
According to a PTI report, the 35-year-old had sustained critical injuries during the collision. He was rushed to the Sub-District Hospital in Banihal for treatment but later succumbed to his wounds.


“Adil Sheikh, who was serving as a public prosecutor and had been appointed with the CBI, Chandigarh, about two months ago, was injured in the accident,” said Ramban Senior Superintendent of Police Arun Gupta said.

Speeding Scorpio rams into car

Visuals shared online showed the advocate’s car being hit from behind by a speeding vehicle near Banihal. The Scorpio continues to drive after the accident — veering around other vehicles on the road in a cloud of dust. The smaller while car with Nabi comes to a shaky halt close to the road divider after the hit. The accident took place while the two vehicles were near the railway crossing at Banihal.

Gupta told PTI that the police had arrested Mohammad Shafi, the driver of the Mahindra Scorpio involved in the collision.
Policeman mowed down by vehicle in Jharkhand

A separate incident from Jharkhand saw a policeman die on the spot after being run over by an unidentified vehicle in the Palamu district of Jharkhand. The accident took place near Diwan Bigaha in Haidernagar police station area late on Friday evening.The deceased has been identified as Sonu Singh, a native of Diwan Bigaha. He was posted in Ranchi.


“The accident took place when the victim was returning home from Bihar’s Aurangabad, where he had gone on leave. An unidentified vehicle ran over him, leading to his death on the spot,” said Afzal Ansari, officer-in-charge of Haidernagar police station, said.
A search has been launched to identify the vehicle and additional investigation remains underway.

Two killed as BJYM leader crashes car into people in Madhya Pradesh

A BJP youth wing leader ploughed into a group of people on Friday night — killing an 11-year-old boy and a senior citizen. The incident took place in the Morena district of Madhya Pradesh and the accused was allegedly in an inebriated state at the time of the accident. Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha leader Dipendra Bhadoria was caught by people in the vicinity after the accident in the Porsa area. According to eyewitnesses, the car was heading towards Jotai from Porsa when the driver, who was speeding, lost control and hit a group of people sitting around a bonfire on a cold night.
