The 71th National Kabaddi Final showcased the rich cultural heritage of India through various traditional products that were featured during the event. Local artisans displayed handmade textiles including Banarasi silk sarees, which are known for their intricate gold and silver brocade work. These sarees represent centuries-old weaving techniques passed down through generations of Indian craftsmen.
Another prominent local product featured was Madhubani paintings from Bihar, characterized by their eye-catching geometrical patterns and vibrant colors. These paintings traditionally depict mythological scenes and natural elements, using natural dyes and pigments. The art form has been practiced for centuries in the Mithila region of India.
The event also highlighted Indian spices, particularly Kashmiri saffron known as Kesar, which is one of the most expensive spices in the world. Grown in the Kashmir valley, this saffron is renowned for its aroma, color, and medicinal properties. Other spices displayed included turmeric from Maharashtra and cardamom from Kerala.
Traditional Indian jewelry made using Kundan and Meenakari techniques was also exhibited. Kundan work involves setting precious stones in gold, while Meenakari is the art of coloring and decorating metal surfaces with mineral oxides. These jewelry-making methods have been perfected over centuries by Indian artisans.
The final also featured displays of Indian leather products, particularly Kolhapuri chappals - handmade leather slippers from Maharashtra known for their durability and comfort.
