Security was tightened in several areas of Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, on Friday ahead of the evening prayers, a week after the city saw massive protests that turned violent.
Bareilly has been divided into different zones, and security forces have been deployed everywhere. There are four super zones and eight other zones for tighter patrolling, according to Senior Superintendent of police Anurag Arya.

A large deployment of police and paramilitary forces has been made.
A total of eight drone cameras, three government-owned and five private, are being used to monitor the area. The drones will fly over sensitive areas and provide situational reports to authorities. Residents have also been warned to remove stones from the rooftops of their homes. If stones are found on any rooftop, strict legal action will be taken.
Maulana Shahabuddin Razvi, the president of the All India Muslim Jammat, appealed to Bareilly Muslims, saying, "Pray for prayers and go straight home. Do not respond to any invitation from any organisation or individual."

He said that what happened last Friday was regrettable. He appealed to the community not to take part in any crowd and to “maintain peace, law and order and not take law into their own hands”
On September 26, a large group of people gathered outside the Ala Hazrat Dargah and the residence of Maulana Tauqeer Raza Khan, the chief of the Ittehad-e-Millat Council. They had gathered as part of the “I Love Muhammad” protests. They pelted stones at the police and vandalised vehicles, prompting police to resort to a lathi charge. About 82 people were arrested.
The authorities have been deployed in order to prevent a similar scene this week.
