Investigating agencies have taken a major step in the probe into the “white-collar” terror module linked to Al Falah University. They have reportedly placed the wife and MBBS student daughter of Dr Nisar Ul Hasan under house arrest inside the university campus. Dr Nisar, a medicine professor at the university, was earlier arrested in West Bengal for his alleged involvement in the module.
“Dr Nisar’s wife and daughter are under house arrest at his home on the university campus and the investigating agency has confined both of them to their home. After questioning them, their mobile phones have been confiscated. The agency is now examining their mobile data. Both have been prohibited from leaving their homes or communicating with anyone,” The Tribune reported quoting a senior police officer.

Students’ phones seized for examination

MBBS students have also been stopped from leaving the campus after their mobile phones were taken for examination. Investigators are checking their call records and other phone data to see if they have any links to the module, the outlet reported citing sources.

The university has also tightened its administrative rules. On Thursday, Al Falah University issued an order saying no employee is allowed to stay on campus after duty hours. A ward boy from the medical wing, who lives in Dhauj village, has been detained for questioning, according to Tribune report.

Meanwhile, in Nuh, police are suspicious about Afsana, the woman who owns the house in Hidayat Colony where Dr Umar stayed for nearly 10 days. She has been missing since the crackdown began, and police teams are raiding several places to find her. A police team is now posted outside her locked house.
Police told the outlet that Dr Nisar’s wife works as a gynaecologist at Al Falah Hospital and his daughter is a first-year MBBS student at the same institution. Both are now being investigated as the probe expands beyond the initial arrests.
