In a major development in the Delhi car bombing investigation, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Monday announced the arrest of Jasir Bilal Wani, alias Danish, a key associate of the terrorist responsible for the November 10 blast near the Red Fort. Jasir, a Kashmiri resident, was taken into custody from Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir.

The NIA said its probe revealed that “Jasir had allegedly provided technical support for carrying out terror attacks by modifying drones and attempting to make rockets ahead of the deadly car bomb blast which killed 15 persons and left over 30 persons injured.” Jasir, from Qazigund in Anantnag district, was identified as an active co-conspirator who worked closely with the attacker, Umar un Nabi, to plan the attack.
Second consecutive arrest in terror case
Officials said several NIA teams are pursuing multiple leads across states to identify every individual involved in the terror plot. This marks the second arrest after Amir Rashid Ali, another Kashmiri resident, was taken into custody from Delhi on Sunday. Amir had conspired with the suicide bomber to facilitate the purchase of the Hyundai i20 used as a vehicle-borne IED in the attack.
The anti-terror agency confirmed that the deceased driver of the IED has been forensically identified as Umar Un Nabi, a Pulwama resident and Assistant Professor at Al Falah University in Faridabad. Another vehicle belonging to Nabi has also been seized and is being examined for evidence.

So far, 73 witnesses, including blast victims, have been examined as part of the ongoing probe.
