The governing body of kabaddi in India is the Amateur Kabaddi Federation of India （AKFI）, which was established in 1972. AKFI is responsible for promoting, developing, and regulating the sport of kabaddi across the country. It organizes national-level tournaments, trains coaches and referees, and selects players for international competitions. Kabaddi, a traditional Indian sport, has gained immense popularity globally, especially with the launch of the Pro Kabaddi League in 2014. AKFI works under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, and is affiliated with the International Kabaddi Federation.
