Kabaddi is a traditional Indian sport that combines elements of wrestling and tag. The game is played between two teams of seven players each, on a rectangular court divided into two halves.
The basic rules involve one player from the attacking team, called the raider, entering the opponent\“s half while continuously chanting kabaddi. The raider must tag one or more defenders and return to their own half without taking a breath. Defenders try to stop the raider by tackling or holding them.
Points are scored when the raider successfully tags defenders and returns to their side, or when defenders prevent the raider from returning. Players are declared out if they cross boundary lines or fail to complete their raid successfully.
This indigenous Indian game requires strength, speed, and strategic thinking, making it a popular traditional sport across India and South Asia. |
