According to the Prime Minister’s Office, the scheme is aimed at promoting self-reliance among women and strengthening their role in the state’s economic and social framework. It is expected to provide financial assistance to one woman from each family in Bihar, giving them the resources to initiate employment or livelihood activities of their choice.
What is the Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana?
The scheme seeks to empower women by combining direct financial support with training and community-led guidance. Each selected beneficiary will receive an initial grant of Rs 10,000 through Direct Benefit Transfer. Beyond this, the plan includes additional support of up to Rs 2 lakh in subsequent phases to scale up or diversify their ventures.

Self-help group resource persons will play a key role by providing training and mentorship, ensuring that the assistance translates into sustainable outcomes. The programme is designed to be community-driven, encouraging women to pursue income-generating activities and gain confidence in decision-making.
How can the financial aid be used?
The funds under the scheme can be deployed in a variety of small-scale enterprises, including agriculture, animal husbandry, tailoring, weaving, handicrafts, and related activities. To further support women entrepreneurs, *Gramin Haat-Bazaars* will be developed across Bihar, improving access to markets and enabling better sales of their produce.
