Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Thursday ordered the formation of an inquiry committee to investigate allegations of corruption and irregularities in a Pune land transaction involving Amedea Enterprises LLP. The company in question is linked to Parth Pawar, son of Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar. The Deputy CM has publicly denied having any role in the deal.
“I am not even remotely connected to this (land deal)…I had already clarified that I will not tolerate any wrongdoing. I will analyse the details of the case personally. I have never called any officer to benefit any of our relatives or any party worker,” Ajit Pawar told press. “When your children grow up, they do their own business,” he added.

What is the case?

The land deal was first flagged in 2022. It is related to a 40-acre plot in Mundhwa near Pune’s upscale Koregaon Park area. The land, valued at approximately Rs 1,800 crore, was reportedly sold to Amedea Enterprises LLP for Rs 300 crore, with an alleged stamp duty waiver of Rs 21 crore. The Opposition parties have accused the Pawar family of misusing political influence and bypassing land-transfer regulations. CM Fadnavis ordered the probe to determine whether statutory procedures were properly followed.

Who is Parth Pawar?

Parth Pawar, who is a partner in Amedea Enterprises, has rejected all allegations. He has maintained that the transaction was fully compliant with legal requirements and insisted he “did nothing wrong”.

The controversy marks yet another political flashpoint for Parth, whose public career began with his 2019 Lok Sabha election debut from the Maval constituency. Backed strongly by his father, his candidacy was seen as an attempt to position him as the Pawar family’s next-generation leader.

NCP patriarch Sharad Pawar himself stepped aside to facilitate Parth’s entry. Despite the formidable family backing, Parth lost by over two lakh votes to Shrirang Barne of the then-undivided Shiv Sena. Following the setback, he remarked, “I got into politics a month ago. Give me a year, I will be a pro.”
Since then, Parth has sought to rebuild his political footing, increasing his engagement in Maval and the Pimpri-Chinchwad, the regions considered as strongholds of his father Ajit Pawar. His rising visibility has coincided with his father’s shifting political equations, including his 2023 split from Sharad Pawar’s faction.
