At least 20 people were killed and several others injured after a tipper lorry collided with a public transport bus on the Hyderabad-Bijapur highway in Telangana’s Ranga Reddy district in the early hours of Monday.
According to reports, the tipper carrying gravel was coming from the wrong side when it rammed into the bus near Khanapur Gate under the Chevalla police station limits.

Eyewitnesses claimed that the head-on collision resulted in the gravel falling on the bus, with some passengers being buried under the concrete. The deceased include drivers of both the bus and the truck.
A ten-month-old baby and her mother were also among those dead.
There were around 70 people on board the bus belonging to the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) which was on its way to Hyderabad from Tandur.
Those injured have been shifted to the government hospital at Chevella.
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy expressed grief over the incident and directed the officials to immediately reach the accident site and undertake relief measures.
Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar also ordered officials to launch relief measures and provide medical care to the injured. |
