Baccarat is a popular card game played in casinos worldwide. The game involves comparing cards between two hands: the “Player“ and the “Banker“. Each round of play, also known as a coup, has three possible outcomes: Player wins, Banker wins, or a Tie.
The main objective in baccarat is to bet on which hand will have a total value closest to 9. All cards from 2 to 9 are worth their face value in points. Aces are worth 1 point, and 10s and face cards （King, Queen, Jack） are worth 0 points. If the total value of the cards exceeds 9, only the last digit of the total is considered. For example, a hand with a 7 and an 8 （totaling 15） is worth 5 points. 
The game begins with players placing their bets on either the Player hand, the Banker hand, or a Tie. Two cards are then dealt to both the Player and the Banker. The hand with the higher total point value wins. If either the Player or Banker is dealt a total of 8 or 9, this is called a “natural“ and no further cards are drawn. If not, a third card may be drawn according to specific drawing rules.
The drawing rules are predetermined and mandatory. For the Player hand: If the Player\“s total is 5 or less, the Player draws a third card. If the Player\“s total is 6 or 7, the Player stands. The Banker\“s action depends on the Player\“s third card, if drawn. The Banker will draw or stand based on their own total and the value of the Player\“s third card, following a fixed set of rules that players do not need to memorize.
Understanding these basic rules is key to enjoying baccarat. It is a game of chance, and while betting strategies exist, the outcome is ultimately random. |
