Baccarat is a popular card game often played in casinos. To start, players bet on either the Player hand, the Banker hand, or a Tie. The goal is to have a hand value closest to 9. Cards 2 through 9 are worth their face value, Aces count as 1, and 10s and face cards are worth 0. If the total exceeds 9, only the last digit is considered; for example, a 7 and 8 total 15, but the hand value is 5. 
The game begins with two cards dealt to both the Player and Banker. Based on the total, a third card may be drawn according to fixed rules. The Player hand draws a third card if the total is 0-5, and stands on 6 or 7. The Banker\“s action depends on the Player\“s third card. After all cards are dealt, the hand with the higher value wins. Bets on the winning hand pay even money, but a Banker win usually incurs a 5% commission. A Tie bet pays 8:1 or 9:1.
