Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) leader Abhay Kumar Singh was seen in tears after he was denied ticket by Chirag Paswan's party for the upcoming Bihar assembly elections.
In a video that went viral on Thursday, Singh was spotted weeping as he accused party leaders of corruption and favouritism in fielding candidates. "Someone who paid more money than me got the ticket. I am quitting politics now," Singh is seen saying.
Abhay Kumar Singh contested the 2020 Bihar assembly polls from Morwa constituency in Samastipur district on LJP(R) ticket. But this time, NDA seat-sharing deal allotted Morwa to Janata Dal (United), which has fielded former MLA Vidyasagar Nishad.
Singh, who was hoping to contest from Morwa once again, said he struggled for 25 years in politics but was frustrated by the injustice and corruption in the system. "I want to be free from this struggle. I trusted everyone again and again. I even tried to fight as an independent candidate, but I now want to step away," he said announcing his retirement from politics.
The politician claimed that there is a "commission culture" in Bihar politics, saying corruption has resulted in stagnancy in constituencies like Morwa. "They looted Morwa for years. Despite negligible income, 17 property deeds were registered, all from commission money," he claimed.
"Everyone will only give you lollipop, rasgulla, chicken, and alcohol for 15 days or a month during the polls. Later, they will extort a commission of 20 per cent, 25 per cent, and even 30 per cent. Sahu ji was thinking that if I win again, next time we’ll take 35 per cent commission. Vidyasagar bhaiya must also be thinking the same. Morwa will continue to remain in this condition," he rued. |
