Power Mech Projects (PMPL) has won an order worth over Rs 2,500 crore from Bharat Heavy Electricals (Bhel) for the execution of the Balance of Plant (BoP) package at the 1 x 800 MW Singareni Thermal Power Plant in Telangana.
The project, awarded by Singareni Collieries Company (SCCL), is an expansion of its existing 2 x 600 MW plant at Pegadapalli, Jaipur Mandal, Mancherial District. PMPL’s scope under the 38-month contract includes engineering, procurement, and construction of coal and biomass handling systems, ash handling systems, utilities, an induced draft cooling tower, water and wastewater treatment plants, fire protection systems, and associated civil, structural, electrical, and instrumentation works.
Sajja Kishore Babu, Chairman and Managing Director of PMPL, said, “This project will further strengthen our robust order book and reinforce the Company’s core capabilities in Engineering, Procurement, and Construction, in line with our strategic growth vision. It also aligns with India’s mission to enhance power generation capacity and ensure long-term energy security through reliable base-load thermal power.”
He added that while India continues its transition toward renewable energy, thermal power remains essential for round-the-clock electricity supply and grid stability. The project will incorporate high-efficiency supercritical technology with options for biomass co-firing, supporting both performance efficiency and environmental sustainability.
PMPL has a strong presence in power, non-power, and infrastructure sectors in India and globally. The company offers a wide range of services, including plant erection, testing and commissioning, operation and maintenance, repairs, overhauling, and modernisation of power plants, as well as infrastructure projects such as railways, roads, water projects, mining, pipelines, and steel plants. |
