The decisions taken at the meeting will be implemented after the approval of Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha.
The cabinet gave its nod for the introduction of the Jammu and Kashmir Shops and Business Establishment Bill, 2025, and the bills for amendment in the J&K Panchayati Raj Act, 1989, and the Goods and Services Tax Act, 2017.
There is also a possibility for a resolution for the restoration of statehood.
The cabinet gave approval for the removal of the qualification requirement under the State Marriage Assistance Scheme. As per existing guidelines, a girl availing the benefits of the scheme must be middle-pass.
The meeting also discussed the e-auctioning of limestone mineral blocks and the sewerage scheme for Gulmarg.
The Omar Abdullah government is under pressure to come good on the promises made to the people in the elections. Of the 20 promises that the National Conference had made to the people, only a few have been fulfilled so far.
Government sources claimed that the failure to deliver on the promises is due to the delay in the restoration of statehood.
The opposition BJP and NC’s rival parties have accused the government of poor performance and failure to provide relief to the people. |
