Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday described the recent electoral outcome as a defining moment in India’s democratic journey, calling it both “historic” and “unprecedented.”
“With West Bengal win, 'lotus' is blooming from Gangotri to Gangasagar,” the PM said.
He expressed deep satisfaction over the results, sharing the collective joy of party workers and supporters who he said played a crucial role in securing the mandate.
According to him, the day represents more than just a political victory—it reflects the electorate’s strong faith in democracy and a clear endorsement of “politics of performance.”
Modi noted that this marks the first set of assembly elections held after Nitin Nabin assumed the role of BJP president. He credited Nabin’s leadership and guidance as instrumental in shaping the party’s success, suggesting that organisational strength and direction were key factors behind the outcome.
At the same time, Modi acknowledged the fundamental nature of democracy, stating that victory and defeat are both integral to the political process. Reflecting on the results across five states, he remarked that they collectively demonstrate why India is often regarded as the “mother of democracy”.
“Not only India's democracy has been victorious but its Constitution, constitutional institutions and processes have also won,” he added. The PM also thanked the Election Commission of India and all those who were involved in the conduct of elections, saying their role in upholding dignity of democracy will be remembered.
